Dear Friends,
What was intended to be, but probably is not after all the concluding entry in the Civilization and Beyond series, titled A Metaconscious Mosaic, is now online.
A Metaconscious Mosaic is a significant departure from the pattern established by the preceding essays in the series. Instead of being another long essay, it is a series of richly interlinked, and much shorter pieces, each of which addresses a single idea introduced in the preceding essays. The key words in each piece are links to related pieces, which elaborate further, and link in turn to yet other pieces of what develops as a mosaic. The "whole picture" emerges incrementally, as each newly encountered piece is fitted into place. The order in which the individual pieces are encountered is unimportant; start anywhere, and follow the links that catch your attention, in any order you like.
The Civilization and Beyond series has been prompted by thoughtful consideration of the human predicament on planet Earth, and how we residents "on the ground" might approach solving it. I believe I may have discovered a generic approach which, if put into widespread practice by many individuals, may make a significant contribution toward ameliorating the very serious predicament in which all planetary residents find ourselves.
A Metaconscious Mosaic has been constructed with the intent that it, or parts of it, be widely shared and passed around. Each constituent file is linked with its fellows in such a way that all of it can be reached online from any part of it that may be reproduced, for instance, in an e-mail communication. And each file is short enough to be included gracefully in an e-mail communication. The idea is to foment metaconsciousness – which you can find out about by piecing together the Mosaic for yourself.

To subscribe, or unsubscribe, send an e-mail stating your wish to [address obfuscated], and I will add your e-mail address to, or subtract it from, the current distribution list.
The communications you receive from me via e-mail will be brief, will not include any attachments, and will (with possible minor exceptions) merely inform subscribers that there is a new "Dear Friends" letter posted to the "Dear Friends" page; with possibly a brief description of its contents. That's about it.
