"Dear Friends"

2 April 2007
Dear Friends,

Especially those living near, or who may be visiting Taos, New Mexico this coming June 6th, I would like to invite you to a presentation I will be making before the Taos Noetic Sciences Community, on Metaconsciousness: Mythology for a Post-Civilized World. I am not at this date absolutely certain of the content of my forthcoming presentation; it keeps shifting in my mind. My original intent was to cover the agenda outlined in a summary paper titled, Metaconsciousness: Mythology for a Post-Civilized World: Abbreviated Synopsis, consisting largely, although not entirely, of paragraphs lifted from the parent work, bridged by additional commentary. That paper was discussed, and favorably received, by the Noetic Sciences Reading Group last February 19th; and on that occasion I had the impression that its scope was still too wide for adequate coverage in the course of a single sitting.

The objective of my forthcoming presentation will in any case be the stimulation of thought and discussion among participants, rather than persuasion to share my peculiar views. I firmly believe we've got a "problem" here on planet Earth, and that any "solution" to it that eventually emerges will not be the product of a single mind, constituency, or point of view – but may emerge out of a consensus of many minds, constituencies, and points of view. This is central to the myth of metaconsciousness, and so long as any of us remain standing, beckons as a possible "final outcome" to the contemporary "human predicament."

The venue and format of the forthcoming Noetic Sciences Community meeting lends itself well to this objective, and will consist of my approximately 45-minute presentation, followed by a break for snacks and refreshments, followed by an interactive session amongst those in attendance, and myself. These activities will take place Wednesday, 6 June 2007, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, at a meeting room in the Taos Public Library. A nominal donation is requested to cover the costs of snacks and refreshments, courtesy of the Noetic Sciences Community. It would warm my heart to see some of my Friends in attendance, should it be convenient for any of you to be there at that time.

The preceding is another edition of an accumulating collection of "Dear Friends" letters addressed to subscribers to the Freedom Digital Library distribution list. To subscribe, unsubscribe, or contribute commentary, send an e-mail stating your wish to [address obfuscated], and I will add your e-mail address to, or subtract it from, the current distribution list, or respond accordingly.

The communications you receive from me via e-mail will be brief, will not include any attachments, and will (with possible minor exceptions) merely inform subscribers that there is new content available at the Freedom Digital Library; with a brief description of what it is, and were. The HTML version of this letter may be viewed from the "Dear Friends" page of the Freedom Digital Library. That's about it.

Love, Peace, Joy, Now,
Harmon
