"Dear Friends"

1 April 2008
Dear Friends,

I have finally brought Metaconsciousness: Mythology for a Post-Civilized World to some kind of a... well, "conclusion" isn't exactly the word I want; for the work is the fruit of an ongoing personal exploration still in uninterrupted progress. Let's just say that with the final section, II.8. The Myths of Life and Death, I have decided to let that particular work rest, and move on to other projects. It's been good; I've learned a great deal, and the work did not end up in the same "space" as it began – a quality shared by its concluding section, II.8.

As mentioned in the revised Introduction, "The Author too has experienced 'growing pains' during the course of the exploration that follows, and I am not at all certain at the end of it that I remain in complete harmony with everything I myself have written. You, dear Reader, are therefore excused from any obligation for finding perfect accord with what follows. I can recommend the work to you nevertheless, because I believe it does fulfill its purpose as a stimulus to thought – which I consider of incalculably greater value than successfully persuading you to share my peculiar and shifting views."

I think the thoughtful Reader with inquiring mind will find a number of points of interest in the concluding section, which underlines the basis for believing the world in which we live is endowed with a robust, multi-dimensional balance between such complementary Cosmic components as entropy and syntropy (a word I've coined as a complement to the otherwise lopsided entropy); symbiosis and predation; femininity and masculinity; and yes, even between life and death.

I'll not elaborate further here; I hope you find the concluding section enjoyably stimulating and thought provoking. If you do, please do let me know. Thank you.

The preceding is another edition of an accumulating collection of "Dear Friends" letters addressed to subscribers to the Freedom Digital Library distribution list.
