Dear Friends,
Now that I have finally brought the work, Metaconsciousness: Mythology for a Post-Civilized World to a species of "inconclusion," I think it may be good to supply an accompanying overview, or synopsis of the work as a whole, something I was not able to do earlier.
The first draft of the subject work appeared on the Internet 25 May 2005; and it was at that time part of an exploration with roots stretching back many years. As mentioned in the Introduction, "At the inception of this project, the image associated with it was one of alarm bordering on panic – such as the feeling one might have upon the realization of being enclosed within a burning theater. Gradually, over the extended course of developing this exploration further, that sense of panic has somewhat softened; and the image of the burning theater has been replaced by the alternative image of an impending birth – as viewed by the fetus."
The work is truly an exploration, and was not commenced with the aim of arriving at a specific conclusion, or the intention of leading up to a preordained "point." It is not necessarily even entirely consistent with itself; for numerous unanticipated discoveries were made along the way, and these influenced changes in perspective as the work progressed. Notwithstanding such superficial blemishes as minor inconsistencies, or shifts of emphasis, I believe the work has value, particularly as a stimulus to thought, with numerous points of interest; and I think it may be fruitful to highlight some of these, which may be read here.
The preceding is another edition of an accumulating collection of "Dear Friends" letters addressed to subscribers to the Freedom Digital Library distribution list. To subscribe, unsubscribe, or contribute commentary, send an e-mail stating your wish to [address obfuscated], and I will add your e-mail address to, or subtract it from, the current distribution list, or respond accordingly.
The communications you receive from me via e-mail will be brief, will not include any attachments, and will (with possible minor exceptions) merely inform subscribers that there is new content available at the Freedom Digital Library; with a brief description of what it is, and were. The HTML version of this letter may be viewed from the "Dear Friends" page of the Freedom Digital Library. That's about it.
Love, Peace, Joy, Now,
Harmon
