The New Paradigm
vol. I, Number 21

Gentlemen (and Ladies):

I have no way of knowing whether this communication will come to your attention; but I am aware of the ECHELON system created by the UKUSA treaty among the governments of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand; by means of which you (or intelligence agencies under your control) have the capability of monitoring at will the contents of virtually any telecommunications traffic anywhere on the Planet. So it is at least conceivable that my remarks may arouse your interest.

You know who you are. You have over the course of centuries and generations, "by fair means and foul," gained control of the world's currencies, economies and commerce; and as a result today control the vast bulk of the physical wealth of this Planet. You command the "golden rule" whereby "He who has the gold makes the rules." By advancing or withholding funding, controlling "inflation," "taxes," the relative trading value of stocks and commodities; and by numberless additional means available to you, you have arrogated to yourselves stupendous political, economic and military power over the course of events on planet Earth. You have the ability to stir up wars in any part of the world, and finance the arms of all combatants. If it suits your purpose, you can move whole populations from one part of the world to another. Truly, you are playing a large game, and have finally reached the pinnacle of power at which you appear to have swallowed, and are now preparing to digest, the entire world. You bestride the world like the gods of Homeric and Norse legend; you have indeed become great in this world, notwithstanding you are all but invisible to the so-called "common man;" and none, it would seem, are able effectively to oppose your implacable will. Well might you say, as the Poet sang,

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"

Moreover, who can seriously object to the actions you have taken to secure for yourselves your penultimate positions? Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1743-1812), one of the founders (possibly) of your highly exclusive "tribe," if I may term it so, was raised in the Jewish ghetto in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where as a lad he was subjected to the ethnic humiliations his people have endured in many lands and periods throughout much of history. He early on grasped the essence of the "golden rule;" and being cleaver, resourceful and able to exploit opportunity, managed to work his way into a position of influence over the financial affairs of William IX, landgrave of Hesse-Kassel; and later, as financial agent for the British government during the Napoleonic Wars. He, his five sons and their descendants and business associates of like mind, have done well for themselves over the course of generations; and today you "World Leaders" sit firmly astride the financial / political / military empire that has been forged with care and craft through the combined, largely secret, machinations of what has evolved into an elite global aristocracy.

You have demonstrated yourselves masters of an approach to life - a paradigm - that has been shared, with rich diversity in detail, but little in substance, by every generation in every culture in human history; and evidently, in prehistory as well. This paradigm has been articulated by many, including Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679), Thomas Malthus (1766-1834) and Charles Darwin (1809-1882), to name three of its more recent spokesmen.

Specifically, it has been the virtually universal human perception that, regardless the niceties of religious ideals and moral precepts, absent the benign intervention of an enlightened aristocracy, a burgeoning population in a world of finite resources is bound to find itself in mortal competition for the limited goods the world has to offer. Under such circumstances the natural human condition is one, as Hobbes expressed it, of "war of every man against every man," where life is "solitary, poor, nasty brutish and short;" and in Darwin's lexicon, only the "fit" are equipped to "survive." With few exceptions, every generation in every known culture has reconfirmed the experience that the crucial decisions in human events have been reached by dint of sword and lance, shot and shell; and ultimately, the "golden rule" mentioned above. These are "realities" that have been acknowledged by "Masters" and "Slaves" alike, time out of mind.

You, then, "World Leaders," have demonstrated yourselves the masterful inheritors of the Earth, all its resources, wealth and people. You are well entrenched in a system of your collective design which has equipped you to meet effectively any challenge or opposition from any quarter, and your triumph is virtually complete. You have created intelligence gathering networks that enable you to peer and probe into the lives of any who attract your interest, while keeping your own actions and agendas cloaked in impenetrable secrecy. Basically, it is hardly an overstatement to say that "You've won the game." Full stop.

And yet..., and yet.... There may be those among you who are even now awakening to the realization that there is something missing from your paradigm, notwithstanding its great age and universal affirmation. You are discovering, perhaps, that even your astounding wealth, political power and military might are not adequate to exert the control you crave over human, geophysical and cosmic events. It may even have occurred to some of you that the Hobbesian / Malthusian / Darwinian paradigm - what I sometimes call the "Law of the Jungle" paradigm - may be fundamentally flawed.

You have cloaked your agendas and actions in secrecy because you may well imagine the antagonism and resentment that could rise against you on every hand were your methods widely known. Therefore the old adage, "He who rides the tiger dare not dismount" may be a poignant description of your situation; for you may find yourselves locked into systems of your own devising which you are now discovering do not work as you and your predecessors had always anticipated.

It is lately becoming evident that the resources and wealth of this finite world, contrary to the assumptions of the "Law of the Jungle" paradigm, are not finite after all; for human resourcefulness - that which puts resources to advantageous human use - is infinite, not finite, in potential capacity. Therefore the paradigm which prompts you to secure for yourselves, "by fair means or foul," the presumed "limited" resources and wealth of the Planet, lest "somebody else" secure them instead, and exclude them from you, miscarries; and you find yourselves in the unenviable position of the rider of a fierce tiger, who had expected instead to be mounted upon a well behaved and docile pony. Your systems have placed such an artificial drain upon the productivity and resourcefulness of the entire Human Race - to the surfeit of the few "Masters" and at the expense of the many "Slaves" - that you now find yourselves the residents of a Planet whose life-sustaining systems are breaking down and becoming increasingly dysfunctional: systems upon which you too depend for your survival and perpetuation.

Your most pressing problem, then, may well be how to extricate yourselves from your failing systems without getting yourselves lynched in the process, or hung by the heels from the nearest lightpole - or simply consumed in an ecological cataclysm, along with great numbers of your erstwhile "Slaves." Your systems are well designed and carefully crafted, so they do exactly what they were intended to do. They are self-perpetuating and run on "automatic pilot;" so unless you take the initiative willfully to change course, your systems will continue to produce the same kinds of results they have produced to date - until they eventually crash altogether, at great cost to you, the Human Race and the Planet at large. Although you have demonstrated yourselves to have but scant regard for the costs incurred by your "Slaves," you yourselves must also dwell upon the Planet your systems are strangling: therefore your actions ultimately redound back to yourselves as well.

This is not the time, however, for recriminations and retribution, in my opinion. You have based your actions upon a universally shared paradigm, and if others had been in your shoes instead of yourselves and your predecessors, the world you and I face today would probably not be qualitatively different than it is. The "culprit" is ultimately not a particular person or group, but a paradigm we have all shared throughout human history; so "Masters" and "Slaves" are alike responsible for the situation we all face on planet Earth.

What is most urgently needed in the world today, then, is not to bring the so-called "villains" to so-called "justice;" but a massive paradigm shift in consciousness that cuts across all borders, classes, races and conditions. Such a paradigm shift is indeed in progress; even, it is to be hoped, among your carefully selected and insulated ranks. The paradigm shift is to an awareness that our natural state is not one of war of "every man against every man," but one of unity, cooperation, trust, and freely shared and mounting abundance for all. It is an awareness that we are all part of a larger whole; which does not conflict with our individual uniquenesses, but draws us together into a cooperative, mutually reinforcing, synergistic whole which is much greater than the sum of our isolated individualities.

You too, "World Leaders," are Beings of infinite resourcefulness, and have the capacity to benefit from the endless bounty made possible by unfettered human creativity. And you are uniquely positioned, with your hands directly on the levers of economic, political and military power, to disencumber yourselves, the Human Race and the entire Planet from the stifling systems you have created out of the fear engendered by the "Law of the Jungle" paradigm. There are ways in which you may gracefully "dismount the tiger" and turn it loose, thereby exchanging a chaotic and resentful foe for a potentially powerful ally. You are intelligent and share the human yearnings common to all of us, so nobody needs to tell you what needs to be done. The only thing required is the exercise of your will to do it. Will you?
