"Trust"
In case any may be wondering, I didn't resurrect the "Knowledge" article last edition (tnp vol. I #31) because I couldn't think of something to write; but rather because I felt it important to insert that collection of observations explicitly into the thought stream that is developing at this time. It relates to the idea of "Trust," which I would now like to pursue further, in the context of the essay on "Corruption" in tnp #30. If all "old paradigm" institutions are by nature irredemably corrupt, and all "old paradigm" "knowledge" is no more than a vast collection of more-or-less arbitrary beliefs, who, or what, is left for you (and me) to trust? It's rather an alarming picture, isn't it - unless we exercise the option of dismissing the matter entirely, and returning to a somnambulant state of "business as usual?" But even in that case the issue doesn't just "go away," even if you (or I) totally ignore it. Because the "old paradigm" is thoroughly corrupt, and thoroughly corrupting: it simply "scrambles the data" more and more chaotically; systematically replacing naturally occurring order with conflict, confusion and despair; and the pressure continues to mount until, eventually, even the most complacently entrenched somnambulists must rouse themselves from slumber and confront reality. So if we decide to open our eyes and examine our situation with sobriety and an unblinking determination to reach a realistic conclusion, we (or I, anyway) are driven to the realization that just about everything upon which we have fastened our trust in the past has proven grotesquely unworthy of it. This is not a statement of "moral outrage" or "self-righteous indignation," but merely a sober observation on the basis of an overwhelming cascade of corroborative information. Government lies to, steals from, murders and enslaves its trusting constituents as a matter of policy. Any government; all governments; show me an exception on the face of the Earth, and I'll eat my hat. The conduits of information, the media and the educational institutions, disinform and misinform their constituents, and deliberately withhold the most crucially important information from general circulation. Beyond that, they indoctrinate the populace with the single intent of molding a docile, frightened, confused and consequently easily "governed" (i.e. enslaved) population of only marginally functional automatons. The medical / pharmaceutical community deliberately foster illness and ill health in a population that would be far better served if they would simply disappear. And on and on it goes; we've covered some of this ground in prior editions of tnp, and you can search the Internet for it if you don't believe what I have to say. In fact, I wish you would. Go ahead, prove me wrong; nothing could please me more. So: who, whom or what can you (or I) trust with confidence and reliability? I make no claims, so read this paragraph with care: supposing I were to look you in the eye and say to you, "I am the returned Christ," or, "I am the last incarnation of the Buddha." Would you trust me? Would you demand proof? What proof would convince you? Would you like to see me walk on water, or turn a glass of water into a lamb chop? You can probably find an illusionist or a magician to give you such demonstrations far more deftly than I could. How could you be sure, then, supposing you decided to trust me, that you had not been taken in by yet another charlatan? Or turned the other way about, supposing you decided to dismiss me as a charlatan, how could you be sure you had not turned your back upon the Christ, or the Buddha? Can you trust ... yourself? Aha! Here we come to where the rubber meets the road; for the common thread that runs throughout all "old paradigm" doctrine is simply this: "You cannot trust yourself; you must place your trust in 'us', in 'him', in 'that', in 'them'." Somebody or something "else" is on the way, is coming, is available, to "save you from yourself," and from all adversity. Maybe it's the God, maybe the Christ, maybe the King, maybe the Doctor, or the Police, or the Fire Department, or Aliens from Outer Space; but whatever it is, you can be sure it's not you that has a solution for your problem. That is the one-note song of the "old paradigm," repeated endlessly throughout human history, in every nation, language, culture and empire on Earth. Well, but the "old paradigm" song is corrupt. Isn't it? The "old paradigm" has demonstrated itself to be fundamentally and universally untrustworthy. Hasn't it? Then if the "old paradigm" consistently and without exception teaches you to place your trust anywhere but in yourself, where do you suppose might be a good place to consider placing your trust? Scary thought, isn't it? But would you rather go back to sleep? Carry on as usual? Continue to place your trust in the betrayers of your trust? Give it some thought, and some intuitive attention, and I think you'll agree that one of the crucial consequences of placing your trust and reliance in somebody or something "else" for the solution to your problem, is that you deny your own ability to solve it yourself. You "give away your power," in other words, and make yourself an appendage of somebody / something "else." You (and I) are naturally at liberty to make such a choice, as many obviously do, feeling more comfortable and secure, even as slaves, in well-regulated (or thoroughly regulated, anyway) predictable lives. The progressive and accelerating collapse of the "old paradigm" "civilization," however, discloses that slavery is but an interim measure which is rapidly ceasing to be a viable option. For slavery is contrary to the nature of Life, and although it can be imposed, and endured, for a time, it is inherently unstable and cannot be maintained indefinitely. That is why so-called "civilizations" rise and fall with such monotonous regularity: they are all based upon the corrupt "old paradigm," and no matter what noble aspirations and ideals upon which they rise, they unfailingly degenerate into tyranny. Therefore, so long as the "old paradigm" prevails, tyranny rises from the ashes of fallen tyranny, only to be replaced by yet other tyrannies later on. Tyranny is the only option offered by the "old paradigm." It's an endless song with but a single note. The time has finally come, however, for tyranny to end; for the time has come for Humanity to awake. We awake first to our abjectly enslaved condition, for there is no alternative to slavery for those who are unaware that they are slaves. We next awaken our own Cosmic Power, which has never left us, and which nobody and nothing can ever take from us. We awaken our knowledge, which comes from within; with which we replace the ersatz "knowledge" of the "old paradigm," purchased at the exorbitant price of surrendering our Cosmic Sovereignty. We awaken to the joy of unfettered liberty and boundless creativity that are ours as Cosmic Co-Creators, inseparably united with All That Is. We awaken one another with the explosive realization that we are All One, and consequently have no "enemies," and nothing to fear. But what about the "Masters" who have enslaved us; "the 2%" mentioned in the essay on "Corruption" (tnp #30)? Don't we have to take up the cudgel against those "villainous pirates" to get them to leave us alone? Naw; that's strictly "old paradigm" thinking all over again, and all it can get us is more thoroughly stuck in the mess we're already in. It's like boxing with a Tar Baby: "The harder we hits 'im, the stucker we gits." It's not the so-called "Masters" that are corrupt; they're just doing what they are prompted to do by their "old paradigm" beliefs, same as everybody else. It's the "old paradigm" that's corrupt. The "Masters" and the "Slaves" are One. The "Good Guys" and the "Bad Guys" are One. The "Friends" and the "Enemies" are One. Get it? Look. Are crocodiles and sharks "bad" because they go around eating things, including people once in awhile? If so, in what way are you (or I) superior, every time we eat a salad or a sandwich? Fact is, you can really trust a shark - to be sharkish. And you can trust a crocodile to be crocodilian. Of course you probably wouldn't want to go swimming with sharks or crocodiles, because you know what they are and what they do; which is fine as long as they don't do it to you. Similarly, you can trust a thief to rob you blind if shim gets a chance. And you can trust the "old paradigm" "Masters" to enslave the whole world if they can. But the bottom line is, "they" can do it to "you" only if "you" let "them." Full stop. Oh yeah? Then how do you stop "them?" "They," "the 2%" who own all the Money (or "98%" of it anyway) and all the Guns, and all the Lawyers, and all the Politicians, and all the Kings, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Parliaments, Legislatures, Judges, Courts, Newspapers, Media, Armies, Police, Schools, Universities, Hospitals, Research Facilities...? The "Golden Rule," of the "old paradigm," remember, is "He who has the Gold makes the Rules." Under the "old paradigm," yes. But the "old paradigm" is corrupt and in the advanced stages of self-destruction. So you don't have to stop "them." "They" are already doing that "themselves." You don't "have to" do anything. But if you wish, you may elect to withdraw your power and your trust from any who demonstrate they misuse, abuse or betray it. You don't have to go swimming with sharks. You don't have to watch television, just for instance. You don't have to buy into the misinformation and manipulative mind control that is set up to control your thoughts and your life. You don't have to go to school, or send your children to school. You don't have to cooperate with systems or practices designed to keep you enslaved. You don't have to vote, or otherwise support a corrupt system.... You can take matters as far as you like. You don't have to draw attention to yourself either, or make a big production out of it if you don't want to; but if you wish, there are any number of things you can do, or stop doing, aimed at regaining for yourself, step by step, your Cosmic Sovereignty. If you want to. If it's important enough to you to alter your patterns, change your routine. Otherwise, you can continue doing what you've been doing, and carry on, "business as usual." It's entirely up to you. Meanwhile, however, the "old paradigm" continues to devour the Planet and corrupt the functions of everything it touches; and right now it touches everything, including your (and my) mind and heart. The level of chaos, confusion and alarm continue to rise; problems proliferate; stresses mount.... But there is one thing about the "old paradigm" in which you can place your complete and unreserved trust: the "old paradigm" offers no (zero, zip, zilch) solution to any problem. Or to put it another way, you can trust the "old paradigm" to lead you completely astray with 100% reliability. The essence of the "old paradigm" is division and conflict; therefore you can be sure that any impulse, from within or without, which prompts you into conflict, antagonism or strife in relation to anything or anybody, is certain to lead you to a "bad end." Any impulse that engenders fear within you, likewise. Any impulse that divides you from your neighbor, your family, your associates, your "friends," your "enemies" - especially your "enemies" - is an impulse for your own self-destruction. Then where can you go for solutions? Simply, within yourself. You (and I; and "he" and "she" and "they"), individually and together, have within us the solution to all problems, the answer to all questions, the reliable guidance for all situations. You "must" (if I may gently nudge you) learn to trust yourself; or maybe I should put it, trust Your Self. For as has been elsewhere repeatedly elaborated, Your Self, sometimes called Your Higher Self, is what You (and I) Are, and is boundless in power, wisdom, love and illumination. Learning how to tap into That is the specific challenge and blessing of this time in which We have elected to gather upon this beautiful, holy Planet. We have, in our ignorance and fear, profaned this holy place, by allowing ourselves to be hoodwinked by a counterfeit paradigm; by giving over our power and responsibility to "others" and trusting "them" to mind our business better than we thought we could do it ourselves. Now we can see that wasn't such a good idea; so we are faced with the necessity of returning to That within Us which is truly trustworthy.
In stating my opinions I have no way of knowing all the various personal contexts in which they may be interpreted; nor do my readers necessarily have a full grasp of the personal context in which they are written. So we may "click" into profoundly intuitive modes of deep communication; or we may pass each other like ships in the night. I naturally hope for the former, but do not feel obligated to apologize for those instances in which the latter turns out to be more nearly the case.
While writing the essay on "Trust" I received a communication forwarded by a correspondent which I think appropriate to append to this edition of The New Paradigm, to wit:
