I, Taansen Fairmont Sumeru, am the author of Fountains of Freedom and Points of Infinite Light, with the exception of all direct quotes from the Masters, and a few quotes from their websites describing them; and the poem "The Sage" by Shirsha, my Beloved Consort. All of the instances in which the Masters themselves are quoted are stated as such, like "Life is a Play of Light and Shadow, by His Holiness the Late Swami Muktananda". That's an example of a long quote - an entire discourse which is 100% by him, now in the public domain.
Other examples are within my own texts, like "Ching Hai said, 'xyz'". etc. Their words are in quotation marks. In sum, all words quoted from the Masters' websites are credited to their sources accordingly.
There are certain typographical and page layout differences between the HTML files listed in the Table of Contents and the exuberantly graphic style of the .pdf manuscript supplied by Dr. Sumeru. The reasons for this are a) to maximize accessibility by making this rendering as simple and universally accessible as possible; and b) to preserve continuity with the comprehensive format of the Freedom Digital Library. Dr. Sumeru's manuscript is lavishly illustrated, some but by no means all of which illustrations are preserved in the more prosaic style of this HTML rendering for the FDL. Our editorial preference is to let "the words of the Masters" speak for themselves, and encourage any attracted by them to reach their own conclusions by their own means. This is why we prefer simple photographs to "religious icons," and have selected illustrations accordingly from among those supplied in the original manuscript, or by its author.
Although the original ms for Fountains of Freedom and Points of Infinite Light is a single continuous entity, it was felt more appropriate here to create a separate file for the presentation of each Master. These are listed in the Contents in the order in which they appear in the original text, and are linked together in the same order with hyperlinks to "Previous | Contents | Next" at the top and bottom of each HTML page.
HTML coding is in deliberate compliance with the HTML 4.0 specification as recommended by the W3C. Additionally, all "special characters" in the originals, not included in the basic ASCII keyboard character set, have been replaced with their standard ASCII counterparts; e.g. "hyphens" replace "em-dashes," if any, appearing in the original text; "intelligent quotes," single and double, have been replaced by their standard ASCII keyboard counterparts. Also, constructions of the kind, "this/that," if any, have been rendered as "this / that," in order to facilitate graceful word wrapping for unpredictably sized text blocks displayed upon unpredictably sized screens.
Note that while this statement is displayed the Fountains of Freedom document is not yet complete.
