Ute Mountain, situated on the lip of the Rio Grande Gorge at the foot of the Sangre de Christo Mountains in the high desert of Northern New Mexico, at 10,093 feet (3,076 m), is the highest free-standing peak in North America, not associated with any other mountain or mountain range.
